Anyone who has been out and about in Squamish recently will have heard of or seen Create Makerspace, a fantastic accessible, inclusive workshop where people can go for design, fabrication, and classes.
They have the space, the tools, and the knowledge to help local creators make everything from wood pieces to jewellery, textiles, and so much more.
And now, they’ve recently launched the Make It 'Til You Make It series. Community Futures Howe Sound has come on board as a sponsor, and we’re so excited to play a small role in this unique, inspiring community resource.
What is the Make It 'Til You Make It Series?
The Make It 'Til You Make It series is a number of makers’ Q&A sessions hosted by local business Create Makerspace.
The next event will be held on Wednesday, December 11 at 6PM, and will feature two wonderful local makers.
Scott Borkowski is a multidisciplinary artist, tattooist, and owner of Grateful Tattoo, bringing a unique energy to everything he creates. Madeleine Chaffee is a designer, maker, and artist hybrid behind MaddlesMade. She blends technical skill and creative passion into every project.
These makers will share their journeys, challenges, and successes—and answer your questions about creativity, entrepreneurship, and everything in between!
And the best part is that this event is entirely free (but RSVP is required as spaces are limited).
Whether you’re an aspiring maker, an entrepreneur, or simply curious about the creative process, this is your chance to connect, learn, and be inspired.
Why Community Futures Howe Sound is so proud to be part of it
Create Makerspace is a brilliant initiative in its own right, as it literally creates a space for makers to get creative, learn new skills, and turn their passions into a business.
With this series, the Create Makerspace has launched a new element, bringing in experienced, talented guest speakers to bring people together and learn about their experiences. These local creatives will offer advice about entrepreneurship and turning those ideas into thriving businesses. They will discuss the hurdles they overcame, failures, successes, and all the ups and downs of starting a business, making it the perfect match for a Community Futures Howe Sound sponsorship.
Create Makerspace Founder Oscar Radevsky said of the sponsorship: “It feels like a perfect pairing - inspiring maker stories and the financial support that can help make them a reality.”
The goal is to see a long-running series of creatives attending these sessions to offer inspiration, insights, and experience to those looking to follow in their footsteps. And as an organization committed to supporting entrepreneurship in the Sea to Sky, we couldn’t be more excited to not just be on board, but to also watch it unfold.
